"How to" Email Instructions for New Users - Or Email Etiquette for Dummies

How to Email For Dummies. is a little misleading, but I want this article to be found by new email users, people who are new to email and just learning.

I frequently recieve email from people that really P1$$'s Me Off. Its not their fault, they just don't know any better. Unfortunately when you point out their faux pas, it can be uncomfortable for everyone, and some people don't take critisism well.

My biggest pet peave with email, is recieving an email which was sent to multiple addresses and allows all recipients to view all the other addresses. This is what Bcc is for
And to make it even worse, when you look at the body of the email, there are often dozens, if not hundreds of email addresses and clutter from being forwarded from moron to moron.

Sorry if you are one of those morons, but STOP doing that!

There are many reasons why you should cleanup an email before forwarding them, but here are just a few.

1 - You are aiding spammers who collect email addresses. Spammers are sometimes the creator of the chain letters and Viral content that you absolutley must forward to everyone in your address book.
Their hope is that these emails will collect huge numbers of email addresses that they will eventually get them back and use to forward your friends spam.

2 - The internet infarstructure is like a water pipe, and can only carry so much water / data. when you do the math the amount of resources wasted on email crap is staggering.

Remove everything from the email except the part that you want to pass on. That includes all the other email addresses, peoples names, their email signatures, their antivirus tags, 20 freaking imodicons and dancing dumbasses.

If this is too much work then don't forward it.

Can you tell this frustrates me? If it frustrates you too, send those people here, and leave me a comment.

This is a good video on Email etiquette, if your friends do this to you, send them here to watch this video.
